Philadelphia Terminal Division, Pennsylvania RR

Layout Description

Pete is duplicating a short but extremely busy part of the Pennsy in his basement. His PRR is in an urban environment, with four track main line running point to point, major junctions, passenger stations, and several yards where local freights are assembled. 60% of the traffic is passenger trains, including long distance and commuter traffic, plus through freights and local freight. You'll see passenger trains serving Florida, the South and Transcontinental routes. Many trains are powered by electric locomotives.

Operations attempt full fidelity to the prototype, running the same trains as the 1948 schedule. Job assignments include Philadelphia and Ford Shore tower operators, road crews, yard crews (usually two or three people), and a "runner" shuttling cars between yards.

There are a lot of structures to be built for such a big layout, and Pete has recently completed the North Philly station platforms and a massive freight house.
