Iroquois River Railroad - New York Central

Layout Description

The Iroquois River Railroad (IRR), a wholly owned subsidiary of the New York Central (NYC), is still operating strong in June, 1965. First and early second generation diesels are in place, running through the finger lakes region of upstate New York. The NYC runs between Selkirk (near Albany) and Buffalo (representing east and west staging), with DeWitt yard near Syracuse modeled as a division point. While the NYC is relatively prototypical, the IRR is freelanced, interchanging with the NYC at Mohawk and running to Oneida on Lake Ontario. Currently the Mohawk interchange is modeled as well as the mainline to Oneida. The double track NYC mainline is running through staging, but DeWitt yard is not functional.
