The Iowa Central, my free-lanced railroad, operates on former Rock Island trackage in the mid-1980s. The current iteration is set in Vinton, Iowa, which is half-way between Cedar Rapids and Waterloo and is the junction for the Iowa Falls Branch. The modeled railroad is a Layout Design Element of Vinton and surroundings covering about 2 1/2 miles of mainline with four bridge scenes breaking up the 'flat' Iowa landscape.
Point to point designed for operations. Some simple switching of local industries and a variety of trains running through town with a branch line junction as well. A session should last about 2 hours. This would be a good intro for people new to operation.
