Layout Description

The Panhandle Division portrays late steam operations on the Pennsy between Burgettstown PA and Mingo Jct, OH. There is mainly freight operations hauling iron ore, steel products, coal and coke mine runs, oil pick up, and local switching.

The layout is a single-deck, around the room plan with staging tracks at East and West ends plus a branch line serving coal mines.

It features prototype freight equipment and locomotives, many prototype structures including a 6' bridge over the Ohio River. Tower operators control train movements via radio system by controlling mainline turnouts and signals.

The layout has appeared in Great Model Railroads, RailModel Journal, and Trainmaster TV.
