Set in 1955, this model railroad depicts portions of the New York Central System in Northern New York State. From Albany and Rensselaer Yard in the east, to Ogdensburg, NY to the west (and then on to Buffalo, NY - hidden staging). The route is a single-track main line with many passing sidings.
There is also a NYC branch line from Lake Clear Junction, NY to Saranac Lake, NY, which connects with a Delaware & Hudson branch that heads back to Albany.
Staging/fiddle yards are located at Rensselaer Yard (Albany) and North Country Yard (Ogdensburg), and a hidden staging yard is at Buffalo. Local and through freight trains, as well as passenger trains, operate on the railroad.
The DCC control system is Digitrax Duplex (radio). JMRI OperationsPro is used for train and car management. Manifest lists are used by train crews and switch lists by yard masters. A dispatcher manages traffic using CTC (32" TV screen) using JMRI PanelPro. The dispatcher communicates with train crews using FRS radios. Radios are provided.
The NYC Adirondack Division has been developed over time, with expansions and remodeling over the years. Parts of the railroad are completely sceniced while other parts are partially sceniced. It is a freelance railroad, based on the prototype.
There are two locations where the aisles are quite narrow that may prohibit some operators from negotiating them. However, there are jobs on the railroad that can be done by anyone that doesn’t require moving through the tight spots. The railroad is located in the basement, accessible by a stairway. There are no pets.
Jobs include: Dispatcher (covered for this session), Rensselaer Yardmaster, North Country Yardmaster and four train crews.
