Midland and Great Western Junction Railway

Layout Description

Re imagining the trains I saw in my youth in the West of England we find a British Railways Midland Region main line interchanging with a Western Region line tapping the mines and industries of the Forest of Dean. Many locations are built as Layout Design Elements from the prototype. This scenic line serves many industries, including an Ironworks blast furnace, a steel mill, an electric power station and a gas works. Raw materials come from 5 coal mines, 2 limestone and an ironstone quarry and 2 river docks. There is also considerable passenger and parcels traffic.
Operating since 2016, my regular crew will be on hand to help guests who may be challenged by unfamiliarity with British freight cars, handling N scale equipment, and DC operation. We use train cards with complete switching instructions and a wireless remote control DC Pulse Width Modulation speed control system. Blocks are signaled and switching locations clearly marked. Wide aisles ensure comfort for up to ten operators. This is a large and complex layout but help will be on hand to get you going and enjoying the ride through Gloucestershire, my beautiful home county.
